O.R.C. 2903.12 Aggravated assault

|

Aggravated assault is the causing of serious physical harm to another while under a sudden passion or fit of rage, either brought on by serious provocation by the victim that would be seen as reasonably sufficient to knowingly incite or provoke the person into using some type of deadly force. Generally in this type of crime, there is not a “cooling down” period for the offender—everything occurs in a relatively quick fashion, however there are minor exceptions. This crime is very similar to voluntary manslaughter, however no one is killed as a result.

This crime is punishable by a fourth-degree felony.
