Young girl hooked on drugs get second chance at life though the Courts Intervention in Lieu of Conviction program

|

Client was charged with Breaking and Entering, a felony of the fifth degree and Theft, a misdemeanor of the first degree. The client was facing a maximum period of incarceration of 18 months and a maximum fine of $3,500.00 for these offenses. Defense Attorney Zachuary Meranda was able to show the Court and the State of Ohio that this young lady did what she did to support her drug addiction and that she did not need felonies on her record. Attorney Zachuary Meranda assisted his client with obtaining a drug/alcohol assessment from a licensed counselor and filed a motion requesting Intervention in Lieu of Conviction. At this hearing the Court found that the client was eligible pursuant to the statute and granted Defense Attorney Meranda's motion. The client was placed into ILC program for two years. If she completes a treatment program and does NOT commit any other offenses this felony case will be dismissed at the end of the two year period.
